the fox, the magpie and the big black crow
This is Thickneck, daughter of Newt (narrow eyes, wonky tail). I have known her for three years, since she was a cub. She is not tame, but curious, and tolerates my presence in exchange for a couple of titbits. Most mornings, whilst I sort out the horses, she comes too and I toss her something at the end. Now, we also have a very clever magpie, and magpie has worked out that if he follows the fox he might just grab a titbit too. But, we also have a big black crow and the big black crow has worked out that the magpie gets breakfast and if he watches the magpie he might just get breakfast too. So now, each morning, when I go down to the horses, the fox, the magpie and the big black crow come too.
