it all began with a chance find
A 100 year old soap recipe in a tattered old book. From there the seeds were sown and, named after the village we lived in and the ancient woodlands beside us, Merrywood was born.
that was way back in 1996
Since then Merrywood has grown up but our philosophy remains the same, to hand make beautiful products from a blend of natural, home grown and wild harvested plant ingredients.

Merrywood isn’t just about soap and pretty things. To us the bigger picture is equally important. Beautiful ingredients make beautiful products so we grow the herbs and flowers we use without sprays or chemicals and we try to manage the land here in a way that encourages diversity and wildlife.
we try to tread lightly
and leave only small footprints behind us. Small changes can have a big impact so we think about what we use and the ingredients we put into our products and keep them simple, natural and sustainable. It takes time but, you get out what you put in and the rewards are great.
